Injuries to Headphone -Wearing Pedestrians Struck By Cars And Trains More Than Triple Since 2004, According to University of Maryland Researchers
New research from the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore and the University of Maryland School of Medicine and suggests that serious injuries occur to pedestrians wearing headphones. This results because the pedestrians cannot hear the sound of honking horns over what they are currently listening to on their headphones. Distraction from these devices can be deadly. Researchers reviewed data from 2004-2011 as well as 116 accident case studies. All of the people in this study had been wearing headphones.
